You've probably tried mango lassi, but have you ever had a savory lassi with a kick? Start off the meal with a spicy chili and cilantro infused lassi.
Then, learn how to make Pulao, an aromatic rice with peas and carrots, a staple of Bengali cuisine. Pulao is always served with a curry, dal or any fried items.
The main dish for this Indian Feast is, Chicken Kasha, a curry of onion-garlic- ginger. The curry is ceremoniously served after the rice, the Cholar Dal and Begun Bhaja. Cholar Dal adds to the grander as it is made for special occasions like a wedding reception or during festival times. Made of split peas or yellow lentils, fresh pieces of coconut and ginger this dish sweetens the palet and helps create a full plate of flavors. Finally the Begun Bhaja completes the meal with lightly fried eggplant slices in a sweet and savory turmeric batter.
Of course the meal wouldn't be complete without eating the meal the proper way, with your hands! Come learn how to eat this incredible Indian meal how Indians eat! Be prepared to roll up your sleeves and get to work as all Culture Kitchen classes are family style hands on cooking and come with an appetite as we will have a full meal in class to enjoy the fruits of labor!
